Traverse, 2011 Chevy - Wont start after getting gas?!

Asked by maanonsen May 09, 2019 at 11:56 PM about the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse 1LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our 2011 Traverse LT - when my wife getss gas, she says it won't start right
away.  It is dead as a dorrnail.  But if she sits and waits 3-4 minutes, then it
turns over and starts rough, then it is fine?  What gives?  Anybody know what is
causing this?  Oh, and there a no (zero) trouble codes to identify the problem?

to add..my Son thinks it may be the Charcoal Canister off the fuel line? He siad if it was the selonoid purge valve, it would throw a trouble code - and I'm not getting a code??

Yes, I have since found out and thank you for replying Guru516N! It is the selenoid purge valve, about $35-$40 to buy and quite easy to replace. It basically involves removing the clip wiring and tube, and unbolt a 10mm bolt to pop the unit out. Thanks to all who replied! I was just concerned because the Traverse did not throw a trouble code?! I was thinking it might be the charcoal cannister as well, and that part is well over $100.00, The valve is the cheapest fix so I'll try that first and report back!

Sounds like the solenoid purge valve, not expensive($30-$40), not hard to install. Youtube it.

I'm having the same issue with my 2010 traverse. Replaced internal fuel pump and purge valve with no success.

I have a 2019 Traverse. I have replaced the Solenoid twice thinking the first replacement may have been defective. It is still happening for me.
