What would make a 2011 Chevy Impala run hot

My car run hot after I turn it off and when I start to crank it back up

How can it "run" hot when you turn it off? I'm confused- does it run hot when it's running? How can you tell it's abnormally hot if it's off? wow

Is there perhaps a problem with the gauge cluster or sensor? You will need to be more specific.
