Can someone help me find oil leak

Asked by Guru9Y5QRQ Jan 26, 2021 at 03:32 PM about the 2011 Ford Flex SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving out of town and my 2011 ford flex started to smoke and I noticed
a film on the back window. I pulled over to the next town and say there was oil
dripping from the bottom of the passenger side. The oil was in the fender wells
. I opened the hood and the oil cap was on no oil on valve covers but the oil
was all over the passenger side of the car under the hood. It was on the ac
lines the power steering fluid container and lines. Also on the lines for the ac. I
saw that the crank seal has a small leak but not enough to completely empty
out the oil. When I pulled over and checked the oil it had a very small amount. I
filled the the oil. It took 4.5 quarts. The Flex is on a rack and we have cleaned
all the oil off. The only thing that is leaking is the power steering pump which I
new and the crank seal. The crank seal is only leaking a tiny amount.

Absolutely check the PCV (wouldn't hurt to look for emulsified oil too in crankcase). A weak seal will leak when that pressure builds.
