life expectancy of 2011 ford edge sport

Asked by Byron Feb 22, 2020 at 12:34 AM about the 2011 Ford Edge Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What major repairs should I expect to have done on a ford edge sport with
138,000 miles on it. It's never been in an accident however, don't know how
hard it's been driven. Thinking of buying one. Trying to get some idea of what I
might face.

At those miles almost anything can go wrong. Have a mechanic inspect it before buying.

What do you consider major? Engine and trans? By this time, the suspension should have been was already swapped out. Water pump and alternator, and belt tensioner usually fail around this time. Oil and coolant leaks, maybe even exhaust. If you don't mind repairing them as they crop up, your fine for maybe around 200K to 300K. No one can predict the future.

I’ve got the non-sport version of this (had for life of vehicle) and aside from brakes; tires; etc. you should check the belts; when the transmission has been serviced, etc. I haven’t had major issues with mine but I’ve been servicing it more regularly than required by the service book. If highway miles you should have life on the engine and transmission. There is a great set of YouTube videos on this year and model regarding service intervals. Added bonus it is an easy vehicle to work on.
