2010 ford f350 produces white smoke from exhaust that fills up the road to point where people behind me have to pull over. at first i thought it was due to "cleaning exhaust filter" . ?? any ideas?

I have the same problem with my 2009 F350 diesel. A lot of smoke, usually once a day for 20 minutes or so, then it stops. Ford says it is the exhaust cleaning system and it is normal. NOT, when the people behind you pull off the road...

Ok every on is quick to say head gasket or egr. but i have a friend that had the same issue but let see here. if you have a blown head gasket or a egr leaking coolant into the engine or exhaust. it should smell sweet. and that is not the case the only smoke that has no odor is water turning to steam not coolant. so the blown head gasket and egr idea should be out of the question.

Well I put some pressure on Ford and my dealership and they put a new program in for the clean engine procedure on my 2010 desile. Ford admitted that the system wasn't allowing or notifying completion of the process. Since then I have only had 2 known white smoke clowds in over 1500 mls, but still no improvement in milage over the 2006 Desile of same type I had.

check if have coolant loss that will indicate a blown egr cooler or head gasket, but 6.4s arent known for head gasket issues, possiblly a stuck egr valve. pcm reprogram is a possible solution if it is just in the program. and there are no "legal" ways to improve 6.4 fuel ecconomy. Programers and dpf delete kits can dramatically improve mpgs but are intended for off road application only.
