Request the vehicle be inspected by a reputable "CPO" (certified pre owned) inspector or Porsche dealer. CPO inspections touch on some 200 items and are usually more reliable than eyeballs alone. In addition I would request maintenance records or name of place that maintained vehicle. If records are lacking be wary of buying vehicle. You can also request a Carfax or have your own insurance agent run VIN to look for past claims. Maintenance is higher for Porsche, just as it is for BMW or Mercedes, if you're not prepared to spend more yearly on vehicle maintenance then may want to look for another brand.
