Premium. Most vehicles with a turbo require or at least recommend premium unleaded. Not all, but most. VW recommends premium in their turbo vehicles.

Sorry car gurus. Your answer is BS. Volkswagen gen 3 turbos are tuned to run on 87 octane. While I am not sure this is gen 3, my 1.8 t Passat was and ran like a jack rabbit on 87. Which was how VAG recommended from the factory. Yes, it was on the little fuel door. You should be more informed before making such a general sweeping statement

Any turbo car will run better on higher octane gas.

The 2.0t does require premium gasoline, it says so right on the gas lid and the dealerships also confirm that
