2010

Asked by James Sep 07, 2017 at 10:57 AM about the 2010 Ford F-150 STX SuperCab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2010 F 150 4.6 liter V-8 will not accelerate.  Or rather has trouble
accelerating at any speed really.  And then at times it will accelerate just fine.
But definitely will not go up a hill.  Unless I depress the gas petal almost all
the way to the floor.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Replacing the fuel filter
this weekend and the air filter.  It does sound like I have an exhaust leak,
could this be the problem?

I would check your spark plugs & wires & coils and fix vacuum leaks. If there is any check engine light on have codes read, Cat may be clogged, dirty air filter of throttle body or low fuel pressure or dirty fuel filter or fuel injectors. Start with the basics and test before replacing unless its a bad vacuum line or none bad parts.

Enginecreator, thanks that all sounds logical to me. I am thinking it might be the fuel filter, and or the air filter. It isn't showing any codes right now but I do know I have an exhaust leak, which might actually be a seal leak. Thanks for your answer that makes me think I am headed in the right direction.

Depends on where the exhaust leak is or why its leaking and how bad the leak is whether not it will cause your issues. The closer it is to engine (like manifold) may cause issues with power. If extremely high miles a timing chain may be needed but you will or may have valve train noise too if timing chain is stretched.
