Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Lights are on auto dash lights won't come
on until its real dark out. Can't see dash
(speedometer, or anything) so don't know
how fast I'm going. Is there a adjustment or
some way of getting the dash lights to come
on

There should be a rocker switch next to the headlamp switch. Pushing on the top of it when the lights are on is supposed to brighten the dash lights. If there is an alarm or anything else aftermarket wired directly into the headlamp switch it will cause the headlamp switch to fail.

Typing at the same time again. The timer for the headlamps isn't adjustable. You can however try covering the sunload sensor that is in the rear view mirror with scotch tape to see if it helps any. Those mirrors are about about $1000.

Manually switch the headlights on sooner if you need the dash lights and adjust the dash lights brighter if needed. I run my F150 on auto but the light level needed to turn them on works for me.

Guy is right about anything else wired in to headlight switch. I learned this the hard way putting K/C supplemental off-road lights on my truck. Fried the switch, but I got off cheap with the old pull-out switch, and put in a toggle instead. but a 2010 will get a bit expensive.

There is an adjustment knob on the left side near the headlight switch. Mine turns from left to right. On mine, you just see the side of it, as it thumb operated. It brightens the dash lights.

Here is the real solution. Cover the sensor on the dash located right in the middle of the windshield infront of the small dash storage indention.it's small and black. That will make your dash light come on faster. It's not on the rear view mirror. That is a light sensor but it's darkens ur mirror when someone headlights are too bright.

i have 09 Lariat, most dash lights illuminate at night hot/cold and other standard gauges., however mph gauge/needle only lights up beyond 65 MPH, needle between 0 and 65 side is dark. I assume a bulb/fuse needs to be replaced ... any suggestions?
