Jeep liberty 2010 New alternator and Battery but not charging battery

I replaced both alternator and battery both operate but alternator is not charging
battery after checking Volt/Amp meter reading 11.7 while running. previous
alternator fried and drained old battery. Any idea as to what may not be working
and what is a quick fix to this?
