humming from exhaust leak

Honda CRV makes humming sound from back.  I noticed it when I went to the back to take something out of the cargo area.  Could this be from an exhaust leak?  If so is it dangerous to drive?  I'm two hours from home.  The car seems to drive perfectly fine on the short trips I've taken since noticing the sound.

Exhaust leaks don't really sound like humming. Is it the fuel pump?

Unfortunately, I'm not with the car. She hears no sound from the front. Is the fuel pump in the rear with a CRV? If that's where the hum comes from does that indicate a serious problem. Like I said, the car seems to drive fine.
