Intermediate shaft bearings ? I hope not?

Question type: General

A friend of mine just purchased a 2003 Porsche Boxster and discovered that he
may need to replace or repair the intermediate shaft bearings ,  that may
include rebuilding the engine?    Subaru engines  do not require a balance
shaft[4] or counterweights on the crankshaft to balance the weight of the
reciprocating parts, which are required in most other engine configurations.   
So,  is there anything in part even related to the intermediate shaft bearings in
the Subaru engine configuration?

OK, found this online for folks who might be curious about this- The answer is NO, Subaru does not have one like Porsche, see this thread below that discusses this subject, http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/61-general-discussions/286762-can-will-subaru-boxer-engines

Operative language- Subaru has yet to offer an engine employing an intermediate shaft. The cams are driven directly by chains driven from the crank. Older but still recent models used a rubber belt.
