2010 Outback with intense steering wheel shutter and intermittent engine shuts off.

Asked by TellingPanda Apr 19, 2018 at 11:12 AM about the 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whenever I'm driving more than 20ish mph, the steering wheel shakes
intensely. The skin on my arms is hardcore engaged here. On two separate
occasions, as I'm reversing to parallel park or get out of a parking spot the
engine shuts off. When this happens, the steering wheel is typically turned
pretty far in one direction. Any clues as to the issue?

Oh, we bought this car used 5 months ago and it has over 105k miles.

Thanks Tom! My husband's car just died (I was driving it to work so he could take the Outback to the shop) and it's in the shop currently. I'm having to drive the Outback to work until his is fixed, and I'm hoping everything holds together in the meantime! Oh, and it's 150k miles not 105k.

I would STOP driving it until it can be diagnosed and repaired. This is a dangerous situation.
