Engine blown

Asked by AmyNC98 May 28, 2019 at 04:12 PM about the 2010 Honda Accord LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm pretty sure my engine blew in my 2010 Honda Accord.
However I'm not sure. I had a mechanic look at it and he
said that it was either that or a timing chain. Right before it
happened I was on the highway and the RPMs got stuck up
in the 5 and 6000 range. Shortly after I noticed that a big
cloud of smoke came out from the hood and the car shut
down completely. my question is could it have been
anything other than the engine blowing.

You need to do a compression check. Does it turn over? Is there oil leaking? Should not be difficult to diagnose.
