Will a fuel pump, or the tank with pump complete, from a 06 Ford explorer fit a 05? Also the 06 is a 4.0 by and the 05 is a 4.6 v8

Asked by Rudy Mar 04, 2018 at 11:57 AM about the 2005 Ford Explorer XLT V8 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I purchased a fuel
tank with the hoses
and fuel pump all
complete. It came
off a 06 Ford
explorer with a 4.0 -6
cylinder. I plan to
install the 06 into my
05. I note that my 05
has a white colored
tank and the 06 has
a black one.
Is the 06
compatible? Are
there any problems
with this?

Visually looking at the new and old tank should tell you if the newer one will fit. As for the fuel pump, best you check a parts site for the correct fuel pump for both years with the engine that was installed. If the parts numbers are the same, you're good to go.
