ATL, Traction and ABS lamps coming on.

Asked by GuruLVDVQ Mar 31, 2019 at 01:01 AM about the 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On engine start these 3 lights are off and
while they are off the auto transmission
thumps through it's gears. After 500 or 600
yards the ATL, ABS and Traction lamps all
come on together. As soon as these lights
illuminate the car runs through it's gears
beautifully, until the engine is turned off.
Then it all happens again.
While the car is stationary and idling the
lights do not come on, only driving brings
them on and it's always after 500 or 600
yards, there appears to be no variations in
distances. These first up thumping gear
changes cannot be good for the
transmission.
Note" I have replaced the complete
transmission with a second hand unit and
the identical problem exists.

There should be trouble codes stored. Have the codes read and post them here.
