Not if you've be running regular oil since the car was new. I have seen guys blow the engines switching to synthetic after running regular oil for the last 100k or so. Some people will say it's fine. But the problem is the synthetic will remove old oil deposits. If you have a lot of engine gunk build up, and can all come loose at once and clog things up solid. This just happened to a guy I worked with recently. He put synthetic in a high mileage mini van. A few weeks later, the engine was done for.
Your owners manual just calls for 5W30 with Ford specs. Does not say it must have synthetic. Better? Not really. I choose to use synthetic in my car but that's only my preference.

Synthetic oil is always better, but is it worth it? No matter which oil you use, change it a recommended intervals and your engine will be fine. Perhaps try Motorcraft Synthetic Blend. It is a blend of synthetic and regular oil, is available at Walmart and is reasonably priced. Also consider using a quality oil filter such as Motorcraft. Stay away from the "orange filters".
