2010 mercedes e350 vibrations

Asked by Jklango Mar 04, 2018 at 02:56 PM about the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 350 Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 mercedes e350 rwd. It has 70k miles
on it. I noticed a vibration while driving and thought
it was my wheels or tires. Untill i just left the Carl in
park and noticed the same vibration while at a
stand still. I put the car in drive and while pressing
on the brake I hit the accelerator. The motor lifted a
little but not what you would think if the mounts
were bad. I started thinking maybe its the
harmonic pulley but I'm not too sure. Dont really
know what else it could be. On my other mercedes
when I needed motor mounts it was pretty
obvious. But I am not sure on this one. Is there
anyway to tell if my harmonic pulley is bad aside
from taking it all apart. Visually it looks fine. Again
the vibration gets worse and better throughout the
rpm range but it is there the whole time.

Also there does seem to be a little wobble on my harmonic balancer as well. I dont know if that is normal to see a little wobble. I wouldnt think so.

Motor mounts and trans mount. Mine did that as well. When changed vibration gone.

Most likely your motor mounts. I'm on my 4th Mercedes with the 3.2/3.5ltr v6 and they do start to vibrate above the 60-70,000 mile mark. My current E350 4matic had a similar vibration at 75,000. The motor was being rebuilt because of defective connecting rods (under warranty thank god) and I had them replace motor & tranny mounts since engine was out (it's a 6-8 hr job in the 4matic). Vibration gone. Replace your mounts first, then see how it feels before you look to more expensive issues.
