Ford Focus Engine Coolant Temp guage

Asked by JDUB18 May 02, 2018 at 10:29 PM about the 2010 Ford Focus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Mom's 2010 Ford Focus (low mileage) seems to run fine, after a few miles, the Engine Coolant Temp Light and Service Engine Light come on. At the same time, the Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge drops to "C" (previously normal). Fluid okay in both reservoir and radiator. Heater works. Any help is appreciated.

James, I tested the heater prior to anything happening and it was blowing hot air, wouldn't this indicate the thermostat was already open? After, the air was very hot.

Your thermostat is stuck wide open making it over cool not allowing your engine to run at closed loop Therefore your check engine light will come on change the thermostat and everything will be okay
