My 2010 Cobalt has been leaking transmission fluid. I took it to the dealer to replace the ignition switch recall part and check the transmission fluid - found out a hose is leaking. It's going to cost me $350 at the dealer to repair. Is this something I can have a family member who is mechanically inclined do from home if I buy the parts? This is how I have handled car repairs in the past and it sure would be nice to save some money for Christmas :) Thanks for any help!

Yes,if they are mechanically inclined and have the tools, to do it,it can be done without removal of the pump.

Also you could check with a smaller privately owned repair shop. Sometimes the same job costs a lot less if its not done at the dealership.

Great - will continue to check with local parts stores and see if I can get the right parts. I'm blessed to have family and friends who are very mechanically inclined.
