Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The last time my car was at the dealer, they said a non-urgent repair was to fix a leak
between the transmission and transfer case.  They indicated that it was no problem to
keep driving.  I only use the car for long distance driving. I want to drive it home 600
miles and have the repairs done there. Is that safe?  How do I determine if it needs
immediate attention now, several months later (the car has been parked and not driven
for a few weeks).  Thank you!!

You should check if there is a leak or puddle under the car in the morning after it was parked over night I suspect there will be nothing a leak between the trans/case is very common and you will need a new gasket just fill and top off your trans fluid before you drive the 600 you'll be fine

Thank you SO much. Can I fill trans fluid myself - from an auto store? Or do I need the dealer? Appreciate your response so much.
