My 2005 Ford Explorer will not drive in reverse, does that means my transmission is going?

I have over 200,000 miles on my 2005 Ford Explorer XLS and have kept it service, but I
have never serviced the transmission. Have anyone experience this on your vehicle.

Transmissions require regular service just like your motor. I always change my transmission oil every 30,000 miles. Maintenance is the least costly thing you can do to ensure the longest life. If you are not changing your transmission oil regularly, you will run into this problem. With 200,000 miles on your transmission, a full rebuild is probably in order now.

My 2005 ford explorer will not go into reverse ur just happened one day but all other gears work even 4wdr just not reverse dint know why and we can't check fluid on these transmissions cuz they dont have dip sticks I googled it says u have to take to transmission shop I looked on you tube says there's a tool you c as n buy to change your own fir those transmission but does this mean my transmission is bad or can it be something else causing reverse to not work also my 4x4 light comes on n off when it wants and also my cruise quit working when this happened too and my over drive

Yes my 2005 ford explore just stop backing up in reverse. I was having problems before this happen. Do I took it to a transmission shop and they told me that it didn’t need transmission oil. But they did tell me some wires and sensors needed to be changed and I did it. now this

My 2 wheel drive with a 4.0 liter may take off fine shift fine and then act like you put it in neutral. Pull it to 2nd it works fine and shifts back up it does not always do this it is an 05 not much in it got another good tranny with about. 175000 miles shifts great this body is slick too hate to junk it could use tranny and maybe trade out some work very knowledgeable. We will get it done b*k]Tommie
