2010 malibu won't start

Asked by Scooby55 Oct 17, 2017 at 07:25 PM about the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu 1LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2010 malibu will start and run, but after its been running or
idling for about 45 mins it won't turn back on. Seems like
something overheats and once it cools, it starts back up
perfectly. Starter good, ignition switch good, relays good.
Anybody ever experience this same issue? Please help

I would check the ignition and coil pack (located near the firewall) I've had tiny cracks appear from the car overheating in the past.. when the car gets hot the unit expands. Ford had a real problem a few years back with their better idea :Thin Film modules"

Most ignition systems have 2 circuits ,,, a start and a run // usually the start is the circuit that fails but I leaned an old indian trick years ago .... if you crank the engine and allow the key to snap back to run it will sometimes catch .... good way to see if it's the module ... of course you can't continue to do that but it is a test
