Air Filter

Asked by kkenner1 Aug 28, 2017 at 10:52 PM about the 2010 Ford Edge SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced my air filter and afterwards the car was running sluggish when I would accelerate. I took it back to the dealership and the mechanic took it for a drive, said it was fine. I took him back out and explained what I was experiencing. He could hear it and feel it. It was like when I would accelerate it would sound like it was revving up and would take its time clicking into the acceleration. They said they hooked it up and when they accelerated they could see it. they said that they were replacing spark plugs and charging me 1000.00. I feel like I'm getting ripped off. Can you shed some light on this issue,

Thanks for the input. No engine light or notification light at all. Just is running very sluggish. Could someone explain to me what an Air Filter does for your car? and can that cause the car to react when I accelerate? Thanks

Your air filter keeps dirt and dust out of your intake. When you replaced your filter you may have disconnected your MAF sensor which would cause it to not run right. $1000 for spark plugs is crazy! Go to a different shop.
