Loss of power/electrical

My matrix has had all electrical flicker off for
seconds and at the same time i lose power
steering, what would that be?

You have the electric power steering module, same as the one in the Corolla. If you lose electrical power you will also lose steering. You need to inspect the electrical system in the car, battery, battery cables and terminal ends, fusible links, all wire harness connections, grounds, fuses/fuse boxes, relays, and modules. If ALL electrical power is flickering I'd start with the big battery cables.
