I blew the cigarette lighter fuse, changed it and still nothing?

Asked by Samuel Dec 06, 2016 at 10:20 PM about the 2010 Toyota Corolla LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 Corolla LE. I am a firefighter and I use my 12V cigarette
lighter plug to power my lights and Ive never had an issue with it before. The
other day everything didnt work. The lights didnt work, even without them
plugged in, no luck, same with the plug in center console/armrest.

I went to Advance Auto Parts and got the blue 15 mini fuse and replaced it
and still nothing. I replaced the fuse under the dash and not sure what else
to do. Any help appreciated!

The common cause Isco the fuse link on the lighter itself. If you look at the lighter under it there is a fuse that acts as a protector in case it over heats. Many will foolishly jump it by removing the insulating washer. This will eventually cause damage to your car, what ever is plugged into it or worse. Replace the lighter with a new one under 20.00, or replace with an after market. But as many suggested. Check fuse under steering wheel area. Just look underneath.
