Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All codes on my 2010 Mazda 3 are related to the combined/YAW rate sensor. The car randomly feels as though losing control at speeds 45mph and greater. Feels as though it's sliding, though conditions on the road are optimal. $742 for Mazda dealership to replae this "combined/YAW rate sensor. HOping they are correct on this issue. Have 58,000 miles and is NOT covered under warranty, yet..... WHO wears out their YAW rate sensor???? Why isn't this a recall as it is truly a dangerous situation that is NO fault of the vehicle operator? Whom do I call to verify this isn't a WARRANTY situation, Mazda says no.

so many questions- a "yaw rate sensor" wow- just what every car needed- first, sensors can go out at any time- there is no life expectancy- they do not "wear out" like tires or windshield wipers- next, is your car still under the stated manufacturer's warranty? If not, then it is not under warranty- you can ask to talk to the Mazda regional rep and try to argue your case- wow- 700 bucks to replace a sensor- one more story to convince me (as if I needed further convincing) that there is no way I would own a 21st century plastic computer car- no matter how shiny the paint-

Well..... the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Not under warranty, there was a recall for cars manufactured7-1-08 through 11-24-08. Only certain VIN numbers JM1 BK****91 187378- 256910 were part of the recall, apparently....Mine... manufactured 2-09.... Not in that VIN number....Recall notification went out 7-1-09, seems as though they missed those manufactured in 2-09.... Anyway, thanks for your input, all turned out well, Mazda is doing a "good will" repair at no cost to us. YAY!
