2010 ford fusion axles

I had replaced both axels but, on my driver side axel its hanging out about
1/2 inch if not smaller from the transmission wall, the snap ring is in place
and it seems that its locked in. but when i took the old one out it was flushed
with the  transmission wall were it goes in vs the new one hangs out 1/2.inch
how could I fix that and make it flush? do I just keep hitting it in till it goes,
becuase it seem like it's locked in?

Buy OEM ACDelco or ford dealer parts , Just about anything else is junk , Don't bang on it , if it doesn't leak or make funny noise then I guess it';ll be O.K.
