Explorer lights won't go out.

Asked by Manoffire728 Jun 11, 2019 at 12:21 AM about the 2005 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2005 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer.
All door and liftgate ajar
indicators work correctly. Open
any door or liftgate on car and
all overhead interior lights and
exterior mirror ground lights
come on and stay on for at
least half an hour then finally go
out. This is independent of the
car being started or turned off.
Info Center does not indicate
door ajar. I set lights off delay
to zero minutes and tried it at
every light delay setting and no
change. This started about 2
months ago with out any
gradual onset. Door latches
seem to be in good shape.
Cause or other suggested
diagnostic techniques
appreciated. Possibilities
include fuse, relay, timer,
software, etc. Lights stay on
and using switches or buttons
to turn interior lights on and of
only give a slightly brighter or
dimmer light upon activation.
Any advice would be
appreciated.

Research the body control module or light control module, whichever it is for your year and make of vehicle.
