While driving on hwy my 09 vw cc sputtered then the epc & check engine light came on. What is this & is under warranty

get the check engine light scanned and you may have your answer. Autozone or some other major auto parts stores will do this for free.
if its under warranty still jsut take it to your vw dealer and tell them to check it out. If not just be sure to go to a licenced vw/audi specialist only since most garages do not have the scan tools available to fully diagnose an audi or vw system. So if you do take it to a shop ask if they use rostech scanning tools its the only system that will properly diagnose the car.
It could be the manifold. Mine got clogged and the engine shut off while driving
