if the lighting is out on the panel for changing gears (the drive, park, neutral, reverse). What does that mean?

With all the lights on and the dashboard and panel the lights, the lights where the drive,
reverse, park and neutral are off.  what does that mean.  Is that something minor?

Could be just a light bulb...if all other convenience lighting is functional, you should start there.

When I put the car in drive it want show it's on the letter D.
