Low MPG after engine replacement

Asked by Zephyr_3254 Nov 21, 2019 at 08:06 AM about the 2009 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After engine replacement my mpg dropped steadily.  At one point it was
down to 2.3 mpg.  Prior to engine replacement, mpg was 11.1.  I have put
less than 5000 miles on the new engine.  These things have been replaced
over the last 8 months; water pump, radiator, thermostat, plugs, coils, fuel
injectors, intake manifold, heater core, evaporator, a/c compressor.  Have
had 4 software updates.  So far nothing has corrected the mpg issue.  What
am I missing?

Last repair, November 15th, replaced intake manifold. MPG increased to 16.4 for about 75 miles. MPG is down to 9.4 in town, 12.3 on highway. I'm not sure what to do now. There are no codes displaying at this time. Any ideas are welcome.
