A/C Clutch not engaging

Asked by Jommy Sep 08, 2023 at 01:43 AM about the 2009 Honda Accord EX-L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently bought a 2009 Honda Accord Euro for a good price but knowing the
A/C had issues and on further inspection I have noticed the compressor
clutch isn't engaging and was wondering if anyone knew of any other
troubleshooting I could do or possibly what the issue could be.

So far I have

Checked the fuses under the hood and on the drivers side
Checked the clutch relay
Checked the voltage of the clutch relay terminal no.1 and no.4
Jumped the relay terminal and got the clutch to click

There's a pressure switch that won't let it run without freon in the lines . If you want it to work take it to a pro , there's probably a leak and it won't be cheap .

If you're not an AC tech with the proper tools, you likely will never solve this. Could be an electrical or mechanical problem, a really low level of refrigerant, or the compressor is just gone, or all of these. Take the money you saved buying this car and go to an AC shop to have it fixed properly. It'll probably cost you a lot more than you planned for..... Maybe a smart seller and a learning buyer.
