Small cracks on tire near sidewall, do I need to replace?

There are some small cracks appearing on the edge of my tires. They are on
the edge from where the tread meets the sidewall. Pictures included. I'm
assuming the rubber is breaking down, and likely needs to be replaced. Is this
correct?

Should be a DOT date code on the side wall. Do a "google" search for tire date codes and decoding them. Replace the tires if they are older than about 6 years.
