Is this a new feature?

Asked by kennyc Aug 31, 2009 at 08:00 PM about the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: General

I've had a 09 grand cherokee for a week now, and the wife claims this happened 7 times already.  When she goes to the store, she parks and locks the vehicle.  On the way out of the store, she unlocks the doors and she notices the driver and passenger front windows are both about 2 inches down.  This don't happen every time.  I checked the owners manual and spent an hour trying to make it happen myself.  It never did.  Today she paid close attention to it.  She got back to the car and then unlocked the doors.  As she unlocked the car, the windows both came down about 2 inches again.  She says when this happens, the car is sitting in the sun.  I'm thinking maybe the car some how senses the heat in the vehicle and the windows vent when you unlock the car to help cool before you get in.  Either that or she went to the bar, not the store.  I still have not witnessed this.  Any one ever hear of this before?

my dad had a lincoln ls that did something similar. only it was an option on that car. if you hold the unlock button down for longer than a second or two the windows would crack automatically

Thank you very much. When I unlock the door, (once for the driver, twice for all)and push the button twice then hold it down, it does roll the windows down. When I release the button, the windows stop. I am surprised the dealer didn't know about this. Thank both of you so much.
