Replacement head rest.

Asked by DiverDave Jul 16, 2009 at 12:26 PM about the 2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT V8

Question type: Car Customization

I’m looking for a replacement headrest for my 2009 Explore Sport Trac.  The OEM headrest has a forward tilt that keeps me from sitting straight up in the seat.  So far all Ive found is replacement seats.  Any ideas on who might make just straight headrests that would fit in to an OEM seat.

I have a 2009 F150 and I have the same problem. Until I find a replacement I just turn mine around. The dealer says it's a safety thing from their racing safety program. I think thats a croc since it is not safe being forced to look at the floor and it affects your ability to turn your head.

I bought a 2010 Ford Sport trac Adrenalin and was not comfortable with the "angle" head rests it came with. Actually it was uncomfortable driving it with the stock head rests. Got in touch with Ford and was given the runaround and started to grow unhappy with Ford and the uncomfortable seat. I considered after market Video head rests for replacement but the cost was too crazy. I saw a pair of used black leather FORD TAURUS head rests on Ebay and struck a deal for $45.00 plus $15.00 shipping - a total of $60.00 which was reasonable for this experiment. They arrived today and at first look the 2 metal rods which hold the head rest into the seat looked wider than the stock. The metal rods are flexable and I figured what the heck I will try them anyway. THEY FIT !!! and they look stock and now my seats are comfortable !! I have pictures but dont know how to post them so if you want to see what it looks like - you can email me at Mrlarrys@netzero.net and mabe you can post them for me - Great site with helpful info.
