Replace an old worn engine with an old worn engine ? Why ? You'd have a host of problems with an exact match . Then the tranny would go , then it would be one thing after another . You probably think you can't afford something newer but can't afford life support for a 15 year old car .

In great shape, the van's probably not worth more than $3,500. If you found a compatible engine that's in great shape, and that would be doubtful, it would cost two grand plus installation. Then you'd have the risk, and a big one. Get five-hundred bucks at a salvage yard and go shopping for a replacement. For a van, I'd suggest you stay with Toyota or Honda..... My 1991 Toyota Previa.
