I have 2009 dodge caliber

Coolant temperature light came
on yesterday it was real hot I
don't know why it came on but I
took the cap off of the radiator
and like the antifreeze and stuff
was bubbling

NEVER EVER remove the radiator cap from a warm or hot engine, You are lucky not to be severely burned. Is the coolant at the correct level? does it have an expansion tank? If yes make sure it's full, If O.K. Suspect a bad thermostat last but not least NEVER EVER I think you get it
