how to adjust steering play

there is alot of steering play i need to reduce this gap

Take a look at the rag joint (aka steering coupler). You can't really adjust a rack and pinion for slop like the old steering boxes, but you should check all the components for slop - tie rod ends, bushings, sway links, etc. I would start by looking at that rag joint though, have someone rock the steering column back and forth while you watch it, if it does not transmit all movement past the coupler it's bad.
