what would cause both power steering hoses to blow off cooler goose neck

Asked by Jayd1018 Nov 02, 2014 at 04:38 PM about the 2009 Ford Expedition XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Line blew off goose neck at cooler replaced spring clamp with hose clamp, next day high pressure side of power steering blew off gooseneck of cooler so did the same and put hose clamp on. I have to think there is other problem with it that caused lines to blow off?
Is there a pressure regulator or check valve that could be bad on unit?

Sounds like your pump is putting out too much pressure. Have output side pressure checked. You may need to replace it. There is a spring loaded valve inside the pump but to my knowledge there is no way to replace it.

You may have overfilled the pump causing it to build up too much pressure. Also, it is possible but not llikely probable that the hoses have weakened.
