05 ford escape

I'm having an issue with my alternator
overcharging my battery, when it does it, it shuts
down my gauge cluster and stereo system, but will
still run the headlights and brake lights, nothing
else, the regulator in the alternator works (third
alternator since factory) and its new, what else
would allow the alternator to keep overcharging the
battery? Besides the regulator in the alternator

Your alternator charging is controlled by the engine computer, but there have been posts in the past about Escapes overcharging the battery and most posted the problem was in the alternator harness connector. Check all the battery and alternator cables/harnesses and look for anything amiss, like charred or frayed wire insulation, weak connections, etc.

Man I have the same problem I think and I’ve been looking for a solution Once the car is warmed up and I hit a certain rpm the power cuts out but still running and alternator sending 18 volts to battery Also doesn’t hold a charge and it’s dead in the morning.. new alt and battery.
