why wont my rx8 stay on

Asked by Brandon May 23, 2020 at 02:45 PM about the 2009 Mazda RX-8 Grand Touring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was on my way to the gas station when my RX8
Started to sputter I thought it was because I
needed gas But after I put gas it's still did it I got it
home tried to start it again and it wouldn't start I
change the fuel pump and then it turned on but
turns right off and still sputters Anyone have an
idea of what it could be

1 Answer

I have had the same problem two different times with my 2004. Both times it was a loss of compression in the rotors. Have your technician measure compression in both rotor chambers. The apex seals have probably worn out and an engine rebuild or replacement needs to be done.
