Asked by Guru9H619F Nov 23, 2021 at 03:59 PM about the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt 2LT Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Working on a 2009 Chevy cobalt with 2.2.
Car cam in and would just crank. Another shop put a pcm and fuse box in it
and it didn’t do any thing.
I removed the tracker out of the car and got it to crank but still won’t start. I
have done a fuel pressure test, compression and spark and it’s passed all. I
even removed the valve cover to check timing and it is still in time.
Only code it is throwing is crankshaft position sensor not programmed. And
can’t program it since it won’t start

Can get it to start off a little spry of starting fluid but then dies

Fuel filter, fuel pump, PCM, battery, and engine bay fuse box have all been
replaced

I’m not a mechanic and it sounds like you are so I respect the fact that you know vastly more than me about automotive electrical systems. With that said, the local shop tech that I use (and who Is an electrical genius in my opinion) has had great success on all 4 of my current vehicles (including an 06 Cobalt) with going through the wiring harness and cleaning and tightening connections. On occasion this has corrected multiple unrelated problems without replacing any parts. If you haven’t already done that, that would be my suggestion.
