Chevy Cobalt Funny Feeling Gas Pedal

Asked by ChevCobaltGal Apr 10, 2021 at 12:05 PM about the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt 1LT Sedan FWD

Question type: General

I have a 2009 Chevy Cobalt LT. Has anyone experienced the gas pedal
feeling loose or feeling if you press on it, it goes down too fast? The car
responds immediately when pressing on it, just feels too soft or loose. It's
never felt like that before. I've had 2 mechanics check it out, they said
everything feels fine and no codes when scanned. Maybe the traction from
the pedal is too worn down(the rubber)?

I aberration it sounds like something might have changed, but if you’ve had it checked out I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I'd suspect a worn accelerator pedal position sensor. The accelerator pedal is part of the sensor assembly. It sends a signal to the computer when you step on the accelerator pedal. The computer then opens the throttle accordingly. This is NOT the throttle position sensor located on the throttle body. The two are often confused. Hope that helps! Jim
