Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi all,

I have bought a Connecting rod Assy at my local Mitsubishi dealer for my 2009 lancer DE, but the connecting rod that they sold me was to short, compared to the old one.
When we put it the engine block we see that the head of the piston doesn't reach the top at all when turning
The product number they sold me is the same as another site that has 1115A068 part #.
I measured the old connecting rod from top to bottom in the middle and it measures 7 3/4 of an inch also put them side by side.
What i also noticed on the connecting rod that they sold me is the #24 engraved in it and all the current rods that I have in the engine have #20 engraved on them.
On the engine block I saw the numbers:

500974
13-16993
BBBB 22122
00414311  101 A

Does anybody know where I can buy this connecting rod?

Thank you in advance

The dealer needs to make it RIGHT. You should not have to put another dime to get the right con-rod for your car -- for the job you are doing. Take this, what you just wrote back to them and tell the parts guy what you told us here. But at least you can bring physical evidence that he/she sold you the wrong rod, the distance from wrist-pin to crankshaft is absolutely critical, to state the obvious. Be polite but firm

Hi there FordNut, I did get my money back and believe me they went to the limit for me and checked every connecting rod to see if it is the same size as the one I brought them. But they don't have it, every time they look at my chasis # it comes also with connecting rod 1115A068 which doesn't fit. I checked a few online website that sell parts, but no success. That's why I'm asking around to see if anybody might know where else I can get this part. Krs, Vernon

I just don't get it. I'm not blowing you off. "oh sorry" sounds like I am. I just don't get it... chassis number and engine parts can be different....

No problem my friend, Believe me I would have gone back immediately, if the dealer was trying to take me for a spin around I don't get it either, how my chasis# keeps pointing to a shorter connecting rod. If I can find that rod the job can be finished
