2008 Silverado 2500 no electrical power

Asked by Texas1Colorado2Georg... Feb 08, 2018 at 08:28 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 1LT Extended Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck has no power whatsoever the entire thing is
as if the battery is unplugged. Replaced the battery
about a week ago (when this issue happened
before) it didn't help then but in the process of
trying to find a bad fuse I just kept unplugging and
replugging in fuses and that worked somehow.
This time I am not so lucky. I'm at a loss please
help

you'll need a multi tester to see what has power and what don't , start at the batt. and go from there , look for any loose/bad connections , "mega" fuses under the hood , fusible links , scan for codes , make sure the batt, terminals are tight , nothing is easy with newer cars , too many variables and things that can go wrong

So I disconnected and reconnected the ground wire (again) this morning and now it works is there something I can do to the ground wire to make sure it maintains a connection? Or is this one of those things where I would possibly need a new ground wire?

look for a motor to chassis ground make sure it's good

So the ground wire attached to the firewall where it attaches to the fire wall is painted seems to be the issue also it seems like I have fixed it by scraping the paint off

good to hear , just a little detail that can be important , ie. 79 chevy truck put it in gear and it would stall now and then no chassis ground , 02 civic CEL light and high idle solved with motor/chassis ground
