Is it safe to buy a vehicle with 122,000 miles? Or will it just become a money pit?

it all depends on the condition of the vehicle. a well-maintained vehicle can last several hundred thousand miles. proper preventative maintenance is cheaper in the long run. newer vehicles last much longer than vehicles built even 10 years ago.
