2009 Toyota Camry 3.5 liter V6. Can anyone confirm where the location of the transmission speed sensor

Asked by diversity210 May 07, 2017 at 07:17 PM about the 2009 Toyota Camry SE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am getting a P0500 code and am trying to hunt down the speed sensor.  I
have always known them to be located on the top of or the side of the
transmission, but the haynes manual that I have vaguely described the Speed
Sensor to be located inside of the transmission by the valve body.  Can anyone
confirm this?

The P0500 code .....I seem to recall a Toyota Service Bulletin which addresses this code. It requires a "Re flash" of the computer for a Fix at the Dealership. Concerning the Location of the vehicle speed sensors?? Not sure. This vehicle may be using the ABS Wheel Speed sensors for determining vehicle speed. When one or more go bad...different codes will set. It might be interesting to call a Toyota Dealer Parts Department and ask if they have a VSS for your vehicle and it's cost...and...where is it located. Get back to us with a update on this interesting issue.
