Wont shift in "S" mode

When you take a vehicle that old into a new car dealer for service, they often put trainee mechanics on it, and today that means untrained and incapable. You need an independent shop that specializes in Toyotas. If you see a harness plug with nowhere to plug it in, they probably moved the other end under something and didn't uncover it, and didn't care enough to find it either. But that has nothing to do with the shift problem. Not shifting in S mode is likely an electrical problem that might be as simple as a blown fuse..... I like Toyota dealers, but in your case, yours is not serving you. I'd take it back, point out the problems that were messed up in previous service, and demand a loaner for the time corrections are done. And demand a competent mechanic, this time. If they don't comply, just go to an independent shop.

That old of a vehicle dealerships just don’t want to be bothered, techs today don’t want to do anything that might involve thinking, so if the computer doesn’t show anything then that’s where it ends, you get stuck with s ridiculous diagnostic fee and nothing fixed. Independent shops are your best bet but you have to research cause some of them are getting just like the dealerships.
