ignition beeps when key is out

After I remove key and open door I get a beeping noise. This doesnt stop until
I put key back in and wiggle it around. I open and close door until i no longer
hear beep

Your lock & key may be worn, the beep is letting you know something is left on, or that the key is still in the ignition.

My 2003 Kia Sorento does this. It's very annoying but the dealership said just to wiggle it to make it stop.

What is up with dealerships? Can't fix their own stuff? Ben hearing a lot of this lately...

Just disconnect the plug under the shifter close to the cupholders..it solved the problem
